Renovation going strong in New Orleans

Written By: Kathy Price-Robinson - Jul• 25•09

The remodeling industry is slow all over . . .  except for in New Orleans, where rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina continues in full swing.

Above you see a century-old home in the Holy Cross area of the Lower 9th Ward being restored by the Preservation Resource Center. In this throw-away world, it does the heart good to see old buildings lovingly restored and put back on the market.

Plus, much of the rebuilding is being done green — energy efficient, healthy and durable. Click here to see the bathroom of an recently restored home in Holy Cross.

Below, Lutheran volunteers have been working in Holy Cross all week.
