Whatever’s happening, we seem to have less money to spend on our homes.
And so today begins a new series on the Pardon Our Dust Blog called Small Change, where we share with each other the economical changes we’ve made to our home environments that are making a big difference in our lives.
Let’s talk about changes we made for $600 or less. That’s the amount of tax rebate the federal government is planning to hand out to stimulate the economy, so it seems like a good limit to this exercise.
I’ll go first. My solar-powered fountain, for which I paid $220, is a small change that is making a really big difference in my home life. This little beauty starts gurgling around 7:30 to 8:30 every morning depending on when the sun hits the solar panel. And it keeps running throughout the day. And because there is a battery built into the solar panel’s case, the fountain keeps running several hours after the sun is gone.
So how about you? What small change, for $600 or less, have you made to your home environment that has made a big difference in the quality of your life?
Please post your Small Change in the comment section below. Or, if you have a picture of it, send it to me at PODBlog@aol.com and I’ll post it for all of us to see and enjoy.
P.S. I’m sorry I can’t provide a hot link to a site or store that sells this fountain. I found it at my local Home Depot about six months ago, sitting dry and dejected off to the side. I got the clerk to put water into it, and attach the panel to the pump and it immediately started running. It was a special order that the customer apparently never picked up, and nobody knew where it came from.
