Local designer gives talk on sustainable landscapes

Berstlercontemporary_4One of Pardon Our Dust’s favorite landscape designers — Pamela Berstler of Flower to the People — will discuss "The Balancing Act of Sustainable Design" on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the L.A. County Arboretum & Botanic Garden.

Pamela is known to TV audiences as an outdoor-living expert. She is a passionate promoter of landscaping that is friendly to the earth. The landscape project pictured here incorporates pervious concrete, which allows rainwater to percolate back into the ground, as well as whimsical cutouts for water-saving shrubs, succulents and groundcover.

Pamela’s talk is part of the lecture series titled "Garden Talks With Lili Singer." It is held from 9:30 a.m. to noon and costs $20. The Arboretum is at 301 N. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia. For more info: (626) 821-4624.
