Save the Date: Alternative Building Materials & Design Expo

<p><a onclick=”, ‘_blank’, ‘width=250,height=334,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0’); return false” href=””><img title=”Earthflowdesigns” height=”400″ alt=”Earthflowdesigns” src=”” width=”300″ border=”0″ style=”FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 5px” /></a>The <a href=””>5th Annual Alternative Building Materials &amp; Design Expo</a> will take place Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Friday is geared toward building professionals, and Saturday sessions are for the general public. Admission is free.</p>
<p>Organizers say there will be seminars and more than 150 exhibits featuring manufacturers of green building materials, landscape and water conservation products, retailers, interior design products and furnishings, utility companies, nonprofit organizations and city and state agencies.</p>
<p>Highlights include:</p>
<p>• Architect Michelle Kaufmann, of <a href=”;s=books&amp;qid=1202086913&amp;sr=8-1″>Michelle Kaufmann Designs</a>, will give a presentation titled “Let the Green In&quot; about why we should create a sustainable, healthy living environment and how to do it.</p>
<p>• Southern California Edison will showcase its latest professional and homeowner energy-efficiency programs and <a href=””>rebates</a>, and conduct giveaways of showerheads, aerators and light bulbs.</p>
<p>• A presentation called “Developments Go Green,” will be given by a panel of residential developers and homebuilders who believe 2008 is the tipping point for the residential community green building movement.</p>
<p>• Carol Venolia, author of <a href=”;s=books&amp;qid=1202086913&amp;sr=8-1″>Natural Remodeling for the Not-So-Green-House</a> will sign her book and participate in a green remodeling panel.</p>
<p>Plus, a green building tour will take place Sunday, April 27, hosted by the City of Santa Monica.</p>
